Rachel Stoll and Jarret Stoll: Engaged

Well, it seems like MILF Hunter Jarret Stoll has taken the next step in his relationship with ex-model/prowling cougar Rachel Hunter: Engagement.
Yes, the sexy "veteran" has managed to convince a man 13 years younger than she is to go down the aisle. The warnings signs were certainly there, and Stoll made his move quickly.
Rod Stewart's ex-wife Rachel Hunter is set to tie the knot with her ice hockey player boyfriend who is 13 years her junior.
Hunter, 38, confirmed her engagement to 26-year-old Jarret Stoll to People.com.
The model has reportedly told friends: 'He's my first true love since Rod, and the age difference isn't an issue.'
Talk about a good trade! Rod Stewart has been decrepit beyond belief for some time, and looks like he's been around the block a few thousand times.
Stoll? He's young, fit, and can handle his stick quite well ... although he seems to lack finish. Maybe she likes it like that?
Although Hunter is rather old for him, I still have to say Stoll did pretty well for himself. The former model has aged quite well, and certainly is capable of handling the spotlight.
Now that Stoll is with the LA Kings, expect this couple to get even more publicity than they already do. A marriage made in hockey heaven.

Dominik Hasek's overpriced "Dominator" clothing line is hemorrhaging cash ... Is anyone surprised? Does anyone feel one iota sorry for the douchebag?
I didn't think so.
Nike may very well be able to charge exhobitant prices for their cheap goods, simply because they have a stupid SWOOSH on them, but Hasek has no such marketing clout.
It seems rather funny, too, that Hasek's line will close down in Czechia, but still be open in the USA.

Elisha Cuthbert and Dion Phaneuf? Ewww...
I don't watch "24", and really don't care much for Elisha Cuthbert. She's not quite as good looking as most people seem to think she is, her hairstyles always suck, and her attempt at hockey blogging made Glenn Beck look like a genius orator of opinion.
That said, we can't but help but talk about her when she's a high profile actress and she's dating yappy NHL players. It makes for good gossip and good press. It's certainly more interesting than watching the Canucks blow another 3rd period lead.
Elisha seemed to finally get a clue when she dumped Sean Avery after a year or two of listening to the endless spewing of crap from his sewer mouth. The thrill was gone, and she had to realize that Avery would ...
a. never shut up
b. cheat quite often (as many players do)
c. not make good long-term marriage material
d. continue to accumulate enough facial scars to make Freddy Krueger jealous
Well, maybe she didn't learn anything, because now she's with ... da-dum ... noted asshole Dion Phaneuf (!?)
As if his own star wasn't burning brightly enough, Calgary Flames defenceman Dion Phaneuf is now being linked to Hollywood starlet Elisha Cuthbert.
Having been seen recently in Calgary attending a Flames game, the Girl Next Door actress -- who was born in Cowtown before moving to Montreal -- grabbed the attention of those in the entertainment industry, setting the Internet abuzz.
A celebrity gossip columnist apparently got wind of it, and CTV's e-Talk has reported the two are an item.
When asked about the rumours, the big blueliner neither confirmed nor denied reports, saying he won't talk about his personal life.
Women wonder why certain men treat them like crap, and then these women keep going out with the 'bad boy' time and time again. When you play with snakes, expect to get bitten.
Elisha, your taste in men clearly sucks as much as you do after an apple martini, and we know that this relationship won't last more than a year, tops.

Ovy's Got a Girlfriend!
The moment Sidney Crosby ever gets spotted with a hot female companion, the Blogger servers will likely crash after the stampede of visitors to The Sidney Crosby Show causes the Earth to collapse upon itself.
In the meantime, we'll just have to gawk at the 'other' star in the NHL.
That's right, Alexander Ovechkin's got some new company, and she's pretty smokin'. Check out FanHouse for exclusive pictures.
Now, how many professional hockey players would you expect to be scouring the Internet for a love thing? I'm not talking about a one-night hookup, or some juicy pr0n, but some actual companionship?
Exactly!
Well, there is a first for everything, and it turns out Ovechkin did a little online shopping before making his purchase.
Who'd figure Alexander Ovechkin for the online dating type? But apparently they don't make 'em here like they do back home: The Capitals' strapping superstar met his new girlfriend, a Moscow college student, on the Internet. It does make sense for a high-profile professional hockey player to use such a service. Instead of being surrounded by a bunch of greedy groupies with a one-track ($$$) mind, Internet sites allow the player to pick and choose his targets, and get to know them better before making first contact. If I am a player that values privacy and wants some actual substance from my girlfriend, I'd certainly consider the Internet to weed out the field.
There she was at Caps practice yesterday -- a 20-something named Katja, and described by one spy as "skinny, tan, blond, hot, Russian." Two weeks ago, she flew here for the first date, and they've been together ever since. Ovechkin, 22, declined to discuss the relationship -- but happily, Katja dished to a Russian newspaper.
According to her interview with SovSport, the two met online last fall after she clicked on his profile on Odnoklassniki, a Russian equivalent of Classmates.com or Facebook, on which they were linked by a mutual friend. Ovechkin saw that she had visited his profile and wrote to her -- but she refused to believe it was the real Ovechkin until he gave an interview to SovSport in which he said "hello to SPY," her online name.
Now, if any Hooters girls should be scouring this site, looking for a love connection, I'm sorry to say that I'm taken. Greg, however, could use some lovin'

Sean Avery: Rejected!
Despite the fact that Sean Avery seems to score a lot of celebrity ass, it appears that his fame and name recognition doesn't go as far as the yappy winger seems to think it does.
From the New York Daily News, we get the real scoop ...
The New York Rangers celebrated their 5-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators Saturday night at Bungalow 8, where injured forward Sean Avery showed up with a sling on one hand and black nail polish on the other. The Blueshirts had originally hit up Buddha Bar but were denied entrance.... or, perhaps the bouncer did know who Sean Avery was, and wanted to deliver a nice blow to Sean's massive ego. OH!
"F- this place! We're never coming here again!" screamed the Rangers' flack when the bouncer said he didn't know or care who the hometown heroes were. Guess he's an Isles fan!
and black nail polish? Has he been letting Mary-Kate paint his fingernails?
Oh, the rest of the NHL has so much good stuff to use against Avery the next time the little bitch starts flapping his gums.

Sean Avery is Sexy?
People Magazine, that fine purveyor of celebrity crap, has decided that Sean Avery is one of North America's sexiest males.
Given that Avery has shagged his fair share of celebrity ass, it's hard to argue against him having some sort of charm with the ladies. I mean, it's not as if he's Mike Ricci or Mike Rathje.
Still... sexy? Ugh... I guess if you like bad boys who never shut up.

Hilary Gives Comrie the Duff Stuff

As if people didn't hate Mike Comrie enough, d00d got hooked up with uber-rich celeb-babe Hilary Duff and continues to flash that shit-eating grin of his as he 'leads' another team to a non-playoff appearance.
From what little I know about Hilary Duff, she is known for her 'good girl' image, which has been carefully cultivated to maximize her revenue inflows.
Well, she certainly gave her boyfriend, and a trendy NY nightclub, a dirty little show for their viewing pleasure.
SHE may look like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth, but HILARY DUFF'S fans were left shocked after witnessing the star performing a lap dance at the weekend.See? This is the kind of hardcore hockey news that you won't find at TSN or The Globe and Mail.
The pretty actress - who shot to fame in kids' TV show Lizzie maguire - treated her ice hockey star boyfriend MIKE COMRIE to the saucy performance at exclusive New York hot spot Tenjune.
A partygoer said: "Hilary was having a wild night, drinking Veuve Clicquot straight out of the bottle.
"She looked nothing like the sweet little Lizzie Maguire she once was as she treated Mike to a series of raunchy lap dances.
"The place was packed but Hilary didn't mind."
On another front, are Alexei Yashin and Carol Alt official finished? We must know the truth!

Sean Avery Scores with Mary-Kate Olsen?
From the "Gag me with a spoon" file comes rumours that Mary-Kate Olsen is getting jiggy with Sean Avery. My FanHouse cohort, Greg Wyshynski, who spends about 6 hours a day on celebrity gossip websites, forwarded me the 'good news'
*barf*
From TMZ.com (If it's there, it MUST be true!):
Avery, who was previously linked to Elisha Cuthbert and rumored to be the other man in JT's "What Comes Around Goes Around," has been seen squiring MK all over the Big Apple.I know I'm not the only guy who once fantasized about the time when the Olsen twins would be legal (not that we have a chance or anything), but then they stopped eating, started smoking, and just generally started to look ghoulish.
He shoots, he scores!

Alt + Yashin + Lundqvist = NHL Love Triangle

by Jes
When Alexei Ka$hin decided to sign in Russia for the upcoming season (good riddance to bad tra$hin), we all wondered if his girlfriend, Carol Alt, would follow him.
She said that she wouldn't, but did say she's be faithful and that her widdle Washin was such a good guy.
Well, Eric over at the NHL FanHouse has been laying awake at night, wondering if Alt and Yashin can find everlasting love and happiness.
Well, I guess not, now that Alt has been seen canoodling with a different hockey player, Henrik Lundqvist.
Ewwww ...
From the New York Post:
If you want to make time with Carol Alt, bring a hockey stick. The former model, once married to ex-Ranger Ron Greschner, was spotted backstage in the W downtown lounge with current Blueshirt Henrik Lundqvist - not boyfriend Islander Alexi Yashin.
Well, I guess text messages and emails just weren't lighting her fire, so she had to find the first gullible (and rich) hockey player she could get her granny hands on.
Now, don't feel sorry for Yashin that Alt has found new blood. Yashin will be swarmed by swaths of hot, leggy Russian chicks that'll bend over backwards (literally) for a chance to be in his penthouse. Instead of being a pariah, Yashin will be a hero to all his fellow Russkis, who highly value greed and self-importance. (Not that Americans don't, mind you...)
Lundquist? What the hell, d00d? Why would you want that used bag of bones?
All I can think of is that Carol Alt must be REEEEEEEEEEEEALLLY good in bed, and half the NHL knows it.

The NBA is in Trouble? Good! Screw Them!
I am sure that I wasn't the only hockey fan that was filled with glee over this NBA/Donaghy/Point-shaving scandal. In case you haven't heard, some dumb ref called a lot of fouls to affect the scores of certain games, all to help some bookies make money on betting on games.
Of course, now the NBA is under an intense firestorm of criticism and backlash that it wants no part of. Whoever said that no publicity could ever be bad would obviously be wrong about this situation. The NBA has taken a Brad May shot to the head that it may take years to recover from.
Now that the very integrity of NBA games is at stake (Does anyone seriously believe that only one ref was doing this?), and the NFL is under fire for Michael Vick's dog-fighting activities and crime culture, and the MLB has this whole Barry Bonds/steroids cloud over its head, this is the perfect time for the NHL to capitalize on the misfortune of these other leagues.
For years and years, we know the NHL has been dumped on by the American mainstream media for being violent, irrelevant, etc etc etc... With all of the 'bad news' being reported these days, the worst thing that NHL has against it is the Staal brothers getting a bit too jolly at a bachelor party.
(No, Mirtle, most people don't give a rat's ass about Operation Slapshot. The media might, the league might, but fans do not)
Of course, this NBA scandal will lead to the question of how above-the-level the NHL refs are. Over at The FanHouse, I have an in-depth look at why it would be near-impossible for the NHL to ever face this kind of scandal.
The NHL has worked very hard to improve and standardize their officiating. As much as we might want to wring the neck of Kerry Fraser, we can be assured that an NHL game would never be fixed in quite this matter without it being discovered.
With the other leagues reeling in bad publicity, I'd like to see the NHL capitalize. How? I'm not sure, but promoting the integrity of its referees, the players, and the sport would be a good start. Hell, even a TV commercial where the refs are like "Unlike certain other leagues, we don't believe in fixing games" would be a huge slap to the face of the NHL and totally get the NHL some much-needed attention.
I just hope that all of this darkness in the sports world doesn't negatively affect the NHL as a side effect. If people get turned off of sports, on a mass scale, it could affect the NHL if people just decide to ignore pro sport altogether.
So, NHL, now is the time to rise above the sludge and come out like a white dove.

Predators to KC: The Fix Is In?
Some very interesting gossip has come out of this whole Leopold/Balsillie/Del Biaggio love triangle to purchase and move the Nashville Predators.
1. We all thought Balsillie had it in the bag with a huge offer.
2. Leopold says 'Hold on!', and claims he just wants a deal 'finalized'
3. Now, we've got all sorts of stuff coming out about the NHL fixing the whole thing so that KC would get a name, no matter what would happen.
From the National Post (Required reading):
The National Hockey League was prepared to deliver a team to William (Boots) Del Biaggio and Kansas City's Sprint Center as part of a plan to keep the Penguins in Pittsburgh, sources told the National Post yesterday.
Del Biaggio, now the frontrunner to purchase and relocate the Nashville Predators, and Tim Leiweke, president of Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), the company that operates the Sprint Center, aggressively pursued the Penguins late last year, offering the team a rent-free lease in the new arena.
But sources said the league, which didn't want to lose a value market in Pittsburgh, asked the Kansas City investors to back off their chase of the Penguins while indicating to the group it would be next in line for an NHL franchise.
It is believed the commissioner and Leiweke, who was in England yesterday, had an informal arrangement that would have delivered the Predators to Del Biaggio and Kansas City had Canadian billionaire Jim Balsillie not stepped in with a richer offer and plans to move the team to Hamilton. Del Biaggio has an agreement with AEG to own and operate an NHL team in the Sprint Center.
Hmmmm?!?!?!
As speculated yesterday, the NHL was willing to make up the monetary difference in the offers to ensure the team didn't get sold to Balsillie.
I bet that Leopold was visited by some men in dark suits. Why would he suddenly give up on a huge offer he was so willing to accept?
Certainly not out of concern for the Predators fans...because he knows the team is gonna move eventually.
This is certainly very interesting stuff, and perhaps a look at just how nasty the NHL operates to get what it wants.

American Idol Castoff Riding the Tootoo Train

Ahh, it seems Jordin has grown bored of his bunnies and has moved on to someone a bit more 'famous: American Idol reject Kellie Pickler
Yeah, the girl looks like a doe-eyed empty-headed blonde with a boob job. Way to be original, Jordin.
Small Town Girl Kellie Pickler has something new to sing about - her blossoming relationship with Jordin Tootoo.
The country music star and the Nashville Predators hockey player have been dating since January when Jordin asked Kellie to watch one of his games.
The former "American Idol" contestant told Us Weekly magazine, "We've been seeing each other since January, but we kept it under wraps. I am this country bumpkin and he's an Eskimo."
Ahh, nothing like romance between a 4th line grinder and a generic mediocre karaoke singer.

Mike York's Wife Will Kick Your Ass!
Mike York's wife is a real catty one ...
Story Link:
A judge Friday convicted the wife of Philadelphia Flyers hockey player Mike York of assaulting her sister-in-law at Lake Columbia at a Labor Day weekend get-together.
"I believe she decked her sister-in-law and a cat fight ensued," Jackson County District Judge R. Darryl Mazur ruled after a bench trial.
Aimee York and Gilbert Cousino were charged with assaulting her sister-in-law, Julie Cousino. After hearing a half dozen witnesses for the prosecution and defense, Mazur found Gilbert Cousino not guilty and his daughter guilty.
Aimee, a certified teacher, testified her brother, Eric, and his wife, Julie, ganged up on her father during a heated argument and she came to her dad's rescue.
Both Aimee and Julie described a hair-pulling, kicking, punching brawl on the kitchen floor. Mazur concluded Aimee attacked first, without justification.
Witnesses also claimed Eric Cousino choked Aimee, and that brother Ryan Cousino also got involved. No one was hurt seriously.
The fight started when the family agreed they would spend the night of Sept. 2 at a karaoke bar. Julie and Eric Cousino said they decided to return to the Detroit area, because they did not want to be left alone at the lakefront home with their daughter.
Aimee York and Gilbert Cousino contend the couple was just angry they could not find a sitter and go to the bar, as they had the night before.
Wow, they couldn't find a sitter? Better kick some ass!

Jaromir Jagr: Off the Market?

Ooooh, here's some hockey gossip for my peeps.
It appears, according to this article, that Jaromir Jagr has finally got himself a woman to 'settle down' with.
From a poor Russian translation from this here linkage, it would appear ...

Of course, we know Russian tabloids aren't always that reliable, but I see a Slovak tabloid, Bleskovky, is also reporting the same news.

Wayne Gretzky's Blonde Bimbo Cries to Chatelaine

As you can find out in the article on their website, Wayne's trophy wife is having such a rough go at it, having to be away from her breadwinner so often. It's enough to bring a tear to one's eye, really...
Though the couple is seldom apart for more than 10 days at a time, it's still a long-distance relationship that leaves Janet a weekday parent to Paulina, Tristan, Emma and 14-year-old Trevor. (Sixteen-year-old Ty Gretzky goes to prep school in Minnesota.) "We've done this for a couple of years now, but I don't think we're going to be able to do it next year," says Janet. "This travelling back and forth is kind of getting to us."Oh, how could the kids possibly MOVE to another city! *GASP* They might be scarred for life!! Such anguish, pain, and misery... a 50 minute plane ride on a private plane? That must be so hard for you. Shall I crack open a bottle of Cristal to ease your suffering?
Moments later, however, Janet sounds resigned. Moving to Phoenix would cause too much upheaval for her older kids, who enjoy life in L.A. Besides, she adds, Phoenix is only 50 minutes away by plane and it's never hard when she has her children with her. "It's when I have to leave my children that I don't like."

After drinking enough coffee to wake the dead, I actually managed to finish this terribly boring article, which sort of (very lightly) addresses that pesky gambling scandal:
"They were trying to paint something that just wasn't true," she adds. "It's unfair that Wayne and I have had a great marriage for 20 years and a nice family, and the people in the media could care less if they are trying to cause friction in your marriage, trouble in your family, and make your kids feel a certain way. That was a little hurtful because it was like, 'Why? What have we ever done to you?' "Well, you did steal Gretzky away from Canada and take him to LA. *cough*
Loan Sharking, which was part of the allegations, and illegal betting, are criminal acts, babe. The media certainly made a bigger-than-it-should-have fuss about it, but your fingerprints are on the gun, so you ought to expect questions.
Overall, just a spoiled bunch of people.

Forget Strip Poker, How About Strip Shootouts?
From a poster on the St. Louis Today forums, the Blues have a very unique and innovative way to practice shootouts.
Enter a bit of stripping to the equation... ORLY?
The Blues have been OK in shootouts this season at 6-6. But on the heels of two bad losses, Blues coach Andy Murray wanted to put some smiles on his players, so he called for the R-rated drill at the end of Wednesday’s practice. Actually, it was PG-13, but it was pretty funny.
As you can imagine, here’s how it works: If you miss a shootout attempt, you take a piece of equipment off. When your equipment is gone, your threads are next.
Most of the players missed a shot or two and skated down the ice without a helmet or glove on the third attempt, finally putting the biscuit in the basket.
Not Eric Brewer or Matt Walker. The two Blues’ defensemen were the last two players not to make it. As their teammates bellowed in laughter, Brewer and Walker broke in on goalies Jason Bacashihua and Curtis Sanford wearing only their skates and a pair of spandex bikers shorts. Thank God, Murray wouldn’t let them go any further.
The players prohibited FSN Midwest from taping the drill, but they loved it.
Yeah, I'm quite thankful that the contest was ended. Do we really need Walker and Brewer skating down the ice with their schlongs flapping in the breeze? Remember, the cold of the arena would really create some shrinkage... O_o

More Free Marketing Advice for the NHL

The NHL is always in need of good marketing ideas, and Hockey Rants is always willing to give out unsolicited advice.
Question: What's one of the most thriving industries in the US of A?
Answer: Celebrity Gossip!
Millions of dollars and far too many inches of column space are dedicated to the coffee drinking habits of the Olsen Twins, Justin Timberlake's dating habits, and Lindsay Lohan's 'rehab'.
So, why doesn't the NHL jump on this bandwagon and try to catch some of the benefits?
Remember how much ink was spilled when Jose Theodore spent one night in the Paris Hilton? How about Elisha Cuthbert and Sean Avery? Candice Cameron and Valeri Bure? Carole Alt and Alexei Yashin? Janet Jones and Whine Gretzky? Tie Domi and Belinda Stronach? Cher and Ronald "Donkey Schlong" DuGuay?
Well, Pink Seats, a local 'hockey column' from the Vancouver Province, is on board with the idea of hooking up NHL stars with celebrity starlets. It might seem silly to you, but it would be a brilliant marketing opportunity.
Perhaps the marketing department should forget about tight-fitting uniforms and new rules and invest in a matchmaker to hook up a high-profile celebrity from the entertainment world with one of its good-looking, talented young players.
In other words, if hockey ever wants to reach the popularity levels of the NFL, NBA or MLB, maybe the league should borrow an idea from Major League Soccer and get its own Posh and Becks.
It seems ridiculous, but maybe the MLS is on to something – tabloid celebrities are a surefire way to gain widespread attention these days. When Yahoo released its most popular Internet search terms for 2006, the top 10 didn't include any athletes, events or even political leaders.
Nope, Britney Spears led the pack with other celebrities like Lindsay Lohan, Pamela Anderson and Paris Hilton.
*snip*Pamela Anderson would make a promising match for Sidney Crosby. If the Penguins scoring sensation truly is following in Gretzky's footsteps, then he is destined to fall in love with a former Playboy model, just like No. 99.
The biggest problem is, obviously, logistics. There just aren't a lot of hotties floating around Pittsburgh for Sidney Crosby to hook up with, or in Washington DC for Alex Ovechkin to frolick in the daisies with.
In Sidney's case, the one notable Pittsburgh hottie is Christina Aguilera. Unfortunately, she's married to a dorky record producer, so she's off the market. Pamela Anderson? She’s been used more than a ball washer at a public golf course.
OH!
Besides, Sidney needs a 'good' girl, such as Canadian actress Kristin Kreuk, who must surely be a hockey fan. If she's not available, perhaps a goodie-two-shoes like Lacey Chabert? Then again, she looks like she could be Sidney's sister...
As for Ovechkin, we know he's outgoing and a bit freaky lookin, just the perfect type to hook up with a supermodel. Adriana Lima, perhaps?
Now, my matchmaking skills are obviously quite poor, and I don't hang around with too many supermodels, so the NHL needs to employ some real cupids to get their young stars hooked up with hot, young Hollywood blood. Get Martin Havlat shaggin Michelle Trachtenberg, and watch the free press flow in from the NHL.
A great idea? You betcha, and free.

Patrick Roy is at it again!!
In the Pantheon of hockey's jerks, Patrick Roy has always been one of the kings of the court. While he earned respect for his incredible goaltending abilities and successes, we've hardly ever heard a good word about his character.
During last year's Memorial Cup, Roy was flipping his gums about the Vancouver Giants goaltending and sticking his nose where it doesn't belong. There was the primadonna whining his way out of Montreal, the domestic spat with his wife. and a whole mountain of other things that make you want to smack the guy with a rotten koho salmon.
Well, Roy is back at it again with an assault charge levied against him.
From TSN.ca:
Former NHL all-star goalie Patrick Roy is facing assault charges after allegedly getting into a shoving match following a major junior hockey game in Chicoutimi, north of Quebec City.Is anyone really surprised? The guy has obviously had some serious anger issues and can't let go of his competitive nature once he's off of the ice.
Roy, who both owns and coaches the Quebec City Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, is accused of hitting an opposing team's owner.
Police say about 50 fans of the Chicoutimi Sagueneens prevented the visiting Remparts players from boarding their team bus after a Friday night game.
Roy reportedly then got off the bus and attacked the Sagueneens owner.
Here's more from the Montreal Gazette:
Saguenay police said a detective will be assigned to the case today. No formal charges have been laid yet. Now, I can understand the situation might have seemed dangerous and something needed to be done. At the same time, does Patrick Roy need to start beating on the opposing team's owner? NO.
"A complaint has been filed (against Roy) and we are investigating," Constable Bruno Cormier said yesterday.
"When we're done, it will be up to a crown prosecutor whether there will be charges."
Police said about 50 Sagueneens fans stopped the Remparts players from boarding a team bus set to leave the arena following a hard-fought game that Chicoutimi won 3-2 in a shootout.
According to the Sagueneens organization, a league official asked someone from the Chicoutimi club to urge the fans to disperse and to help the Remparts players get on the bus for the ride home. Pierre Cardinal, one of the Chicoutimi team's owners, stepped in.
It is alleged that Roy got off the bus and a scuffle ensued. Police say they were told Cardinal was hit a number of times.
The Remparts organization offered no comment yesterday. Roy's team plays this afternoon against the Rimouski Oceanic at the Colisee Pepsi in Quebec City.
Where's Mike Vernon when you need him?

Chelios' Chili House of Death
This wasn't simply breaking dishes, however. This is one for the 'strange but true' files.
From TSN.ca:
DETROIT (AP) - Two people were found stabbed to death Tuesday morning at a sports bar owned by Detroit Red Wings defenceman Chris Chelios, police said.
The victims, both employees of Cheli's Chili Bar, were found shortly after 9 a.m. on the restaurant's second floor, said police spokeswoman Yvette Walker.
"We believe, just based upon the information right now, that it is a former disgruntled employee that may be responsible for these two murders," police chief Ella Bully-Cummings told the Detroit Free Press.
Police were questioning other employees who were in the restaurant at the time. The three-story building sits next to Comerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers.
"We are deeply saddened by the tragedy that occurred at our establishment this morning," Chelios said in a statement. "Our hearts go out to the families of the victims _ they were wonderful employees and were part of our family."
Chelios opened the sports bar and restaurant in 2005. The restaurant, which has a banner honouring former Red Wings captain Steve Yzerman hanging from an exterior wall, had been expected to have a busy night Tuesday because of a ceremony at Joe Louis Arena honouring Yzerman.
