Photo of the Day: Sweden is Gold!
An actual picture of actual Swedish hockey players celebrating their achievement...
Let's just remember that while this may seem very strange to us, I'm sure it's perfectly normal and acceptable behaviour in Sweden.

Not to mention how Elvis impersonators who DON'T LOOK LIKE OR SOUND LIKE the supposed "King of Rock and Roll" are also accepted over there...as this old TV ad demonstrates...

Wow... can you really say anything else about that? I mean the cigar is phallic enough but the strange gold body paint, the champagne and the trophy makes it look like they just stumbled out of a hotel room with the ice bucket and the complimentary alcohol after a night of "experimentation." Man, can you imagine Lundqvist and Alfredsson in an ad like this? Okay, maybe...

Jes, we're all expecting you, Canuck allegiance asid,e to pull for the Oilers in the playoffs. We have two Czech olympians and Detriot has the most Swedes on it of any team in the NHL.
Hmmm,this picture was a shock to us swedes pfft lol.It started a debate over here about homosexuality and hockey.That it doesnt go hand in hand or is accepted.

There is a good explanation behind this picture! The guys, Ledin and Kåberg, were an infamous duo in Swedish hockey in 05/06, teasing and fighting their way through the season. Frölunda Indians' supporteras made up a song about them that went: "Kåberg's girlfriend's name is Per Ledin, name is Per Ledin, name is Per Ledin" to try and piss them off during the games. Then Färjestad - with Ledin and Kåberg - won the gold, beating Frölunda Indians in the finals! An ingenious reporter for Aftonbladet - a Swedish newspaper - then came up with the idea for the picture of the "happy couple" (who are both married with children). As a final twist, Ledin and Kåberg signed a copy of the photo and sent it to Frölunda Indians' supporter club - who proudly hung it on the wall of their pub! That's how we do it up North:)
