Sergei Fedorov dons a new Dinner Jacket
Wow, is this trade for real?
From TSN.ca
I never thought I'd see the day that the great Sergei Fedorov would be traded for a slappy checking forward and a who-the-hell-is-he blueliner.
Of course, the Dinner Jackets have to take on most of Fedorov's US$ 6,080,000 salary this season. In typical organizational fashion, Columbus will overpay for an older talent.
Fiscal sanity? What's that??
From TSN.ca
The Anaheim Mighty Ducks have traded star centre Sergei Fedorov to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for gritty checker Tyler Wright and blueliner Francois Beauchemin.
The Blue Jackets also acquire a 2006 fifth-round pick in the deal.

Lets see if he can bring some spirit to a bunch of guys who play every game like they have already been defeated. Hopefully he can help with the development of Zherdev. I see this more as a mentoring and leadership thing than a goal scoring thing . . . of course goals would be much appreciated.
It appears now that Todd Marchant is the first case of salary dump with the Jackets now that they have picked up an overpriced veteran. Mind you Marchant is not exactly underpaid for the type of player he is either.
and with that loss Balastik is demoted once again to Syracuse. He played well though. He'll be back.
