Give it Up! Baby, Give it Up!

The NHL and NHLPA held a meeting at a "secret" location, and pretty much accomplished nothing except to let the public know that they are alive (To those still giving a damn)

"We met with the NHL Players' Association today in Toronto for approximately 1.5 hours," (Bill) Daly said in a statement. "No progress was made towards a new collective bargaining agreement. The parties have agreed to meet again next week."

Here is some free financial advice for a league that desperately needs as much as possible - Have you guys ever heard of teleconferencing??

Why keep flying your bigwigs via First Class all around the Eastern Seaboard and renting out airport conference rooms if you are just going to discuss mundane issues? Couldn't this have been done dia teleconference?

With the money you save, you could use this to help achieve your 'Cost Certainty'...or better yet, the new aggressive marketing campaign you will need to win back casual and new fans.

"I know THIS much about Hockey"

(THE TRUTH COMES OUT!!!)

So much for the 'improving' Armenian National squad. The poor buggers lost 48-0 to first place Mexico in their Group III game.

Shouldn't there be a mercy rule once one team is up by 20?

Extraleague Playoffs Update

CZECHIA:

Liberec 4 - Slavia 1 (Series Tied at 2)
Jaroslav Modry was thought to be out the entire season with his hand injury. Fortunately for Liberec, his hand healed quickly enough for him to return for Game 3 of their series against Slavia. Modry was instrumental in shutting out a white-hot Zigmund Palffy as Liberec evened up their series. It was a quiet night for the other NHLers, although Jiri Fischer
did pick up an assist.

Pardubice 3 - Kladno 0 (Pardubice leads series 3-1)
Petr Prucha, the Hockey Rodent's favourite prospect, scored 2 goals and actually got some ice time as Pardubice avenged their shutout loss. Jan Lasak made 33 saves for the donut.

SLOVAKIA:

Zilina 3 - Trencin 6 (Series 3-1 for Trencin)

Dukla is one game away from the next round thanks to productive nights from Pavol Demitra (1G, 2A) and Marian Gaborik (1G, 1A). Marian Hossa did not play again due to his 'undisclosed' injury.
Demitra, who won the regular season scoring crown, also leads the playoff scoring race with 2 goals and 6 assists in 4 games. Hail Pavol!

Nitra 5 - Kosice 3 (Kosice leads series 3-1)
Despite Jiri Bicek's 3-point night (1G, 2A), Nitra managed to steal at least game on home ice before heading back to Kosice. Jan Lipiansky (a former Flyers pick, pictured above) played on Bicek's formation and also had 3 points (2G, 1A).
